The role of the negociant-eleveur

Every year, on the 2nd Sunday in March, the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges estate sells its wines at auction, en primeur. Nearly 150 barrels are sold on this occasion. This auction is open to everyone, professionals and individuals. Following the sale, the young wines are entrusted to a négociant-éleveur, who will take care of them until bottling 12 to 18 months later.
